Project 365 | 12.29.14 | Victory

The tree came down in our house today. These were the last two to be boxed up and packed away.

Our church family declared 2014 the year of “Victory”. One of the girls received this medal earlier this year and unknown to me placed it on the tree next to the ornament Jason gave me for Christmas this year.

This picture speaks for itself…

Jason and I drove back to Springfield today without the kiddos. Traffic was stopped on the bridge, it was just past sunset, so this is my shot for the day. I had a lot of others but this is my favorite. We love this city. It is our “big” city. We’ve driven over this bridge countless times going back and forth from our home in Springfield, Missouri, to our home town in Flora, Illinois. We’ve photographed a lot of faces in this old town. I’ve prayed for this place many nights lately. St. Louis, in my mind, is the heart of our Nation. May you smile again in 2015, StL!

I remember looking under the Christmas tree for a particularly shaped box that could only be a new Holiday Barbie when I was this age. So this year when they opened those boxes from Grandma Marcia who has passed over the Barbie aisle for many years to shop for boys (…and now has THREE grand-daughters…) I smiled again because every time that paper is torn away and I see Barbie’s face, she’s still smiling back at me reminding me that I’m still just a little girl at heart. The girls are building a Barbie collection that rivals the one my sister and I had growing up. I’m totally okay with that…
